I must put my house in order.
Hand you place yourself there,
leg slope gently to the ankle please,
don’t look too closely eyes,
this all takes time.

God, I’m tired of this same desolate day,
I’m looking for a way to mend the cracks
from this inner tremor.
See me in the newness of this morning star?

You say I look at you with the same eyes.
Do you know that I’ve polished for years
to get that shine?
There is dust under the rug,
I will write my name in it
will you know who I am then?

I must matriculate into my years,
slowly now,
the other side of youth is imminent,
everyone must graduate.

I must put my house in order,
there are rooms that need airing.
Lips you turn softly now,
lashes, dim the lights please,
this all takes time.

Wow! Thank you, hoot. I missed it altogether. This has wonderful lines to it. "Do you know that I've polished for years to get that shine?" There is really a lot of meaning in this poem. It needs to be read more than once. Wonderful job, Martie.
