I Thought Of You |

I was walking by the creek last night- The grass wet from the dew- As I sat and leaned against tree.. Sweetheart I thought of you. I glanced up at the starry sky- The stars looked like they knew That here below a lonely guy Had thoughts for only you. I woke up in a lonely bed- My dream life swiftly flew; Gone was the comfort of my sleep Where I was holding you. I made the morning coffee- Did the things you used to do, Made breakfast, swept the kitchen- With my thoughts consumed by you. Thought I'd stop awhile and visit, girl Since I was passing through; And your home is right beside the way I'll spend some time with you... Want to tell you how I miss you- Since that night you went away I have spent a lot of hours.. By this lonely mound of clay. Friends have told me you can't hear me- But I know that isn't true- For the only peace I ever have- Is when I'm here with you. Some have told me to find someone- And to start my life anew, No one on earth could take your place- For my thoughts are all on you. ------------------ Live large, people! ~GS~ |

Very touching. I am all too familiar with this kind of pain. You have expressed it so well. ------------------ Denise [This message has been edited by dsnyder (edited 10-16-1999).] |

Another one in the bullseye, GS. Mourning the death of a loved one always strikes a deep chord. |

Been reading your poetry. It's really good! Gotta say, you're right up there with ole Balladeer. It is indeed a marvel that we have been given such a wonderful gift as memory. Hats off! Ps. My pc doesn't know about that memory gift. ------------------ O all ye powers that he implanted, Arise, keep silence no more; put forth the strength that he hath granted, your noblest work is to adore. |
