The Tale of Two Ships ©1999 Two ships were passing slowly in the night Riding the unpredictable currents. Their bows headed in opposite directions - One to the east, The other to the west, With no destination in mind. “Come along with me” Was the eastern seafarer’s siren song. So the second ship glided the seas with the first Navigating by stars. The eastern ship was well traveled. Well versed in many aspects of life at sea. The western ship had never ventured in these waters And when they became rough with a tempest wind Both ships were tossed about. The eastern seafarer knew how to weather the storm For many storms like this had come before. The western ship, inexperienced, Knew the situation was getting desperate. “What shall I do!” The larger ship laughed at the naivete. “I assumed you had traveled these waters before.” “Never! I had only heard about such dangerous seas!” Waves crashed over the rails, threatening to capsize And break the wind-torn mast and sails. As the second ship floundered and panic set in, The eastern seafarer headed bow to the wind And steered away into the eye of the storm. “Don’t leave me!” was lost in the sound of crashing water and howling dark winds. The second ship looked to the heavens. “Dear God, please help me! Guide me from this mess I am in.” And the Lord sent an angel And calmed the storm And led the ship to a safe harbor. And the ship vowed to never sail those seas again. |

Well, the message I see here is that no matter your size, if you believe in Him, he will see you through the worst. On the other hand, it's nice to know what you're getting yourself into. Good read, Genea. |

Sunshine...thanks for the comment, but this was intended to be a relationship between 2 people......and one took advantage of the other. They were 'ships passing in the night' who thought they had much in common at 1st glance. The only way out of a 'mess' sometimes is to pray. Pepper...thanks for reading. |

I love this! Here's what I'm getting: a romantic relationship, one person is experienced and wise in the ways of the heart, the other is naive and innocent. The more experienced partner knows that the only way to survive the storm is to dive right into the middle of the melee. In love, there is no holding back. You must give of yourself completely, having faith in the outcome. The innocent partner turns tail and runs, afraid to get caught up in the tempest. ------------------ It matters not how strait the gate; How charged with punishments the scroll; I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. --W.E.
