Senility plays...
"maybe today
I'll let your memory stay.
Let's make a deal,
When was your last meal?
Was it chicken or veal?"
Too pooped to lift a hand
chaos-like a practicing band
a thought waiting to make a stand,
in my vegetated state
wondering why is this my fate,
nothing flows, I can't even hate.
Severe trouble, I mumble;
does anyone know I fumble;
My children say, I just have the grumbles.

Dentures in the cracked glass,
shuffling to get my cup of sassafras;
oops...excuse me, I passed a lil gas.
my trifocals I left on the table,
careful not to trip on the cable,
ohhh, finally I sit...now I'm stable.
hair growing in places
where once there were empty spaces,
wrinkles like a map of highway traces.
A nose that's grown twice its size,
at least my ears are there to compromise;
forever young?...who tells all those lies?
A bad joke heredity's fate;
why did I have to be its bait?
Just this once, couldn't it be late.
With a gullible groan
and a hobo's moan...
"Whose gene was it that was out on loan?"

Julie: Just think when we're old(er) we'll be able to take our dentures out and suck on life without them ..LOL.. now I bet that thought cheered you up.

Julie, this was great. I laughed my butt off and still am. ( have to do that or I'd be crying) Ah, but with age comes wisdom, and with a little war paint, who would know the difference? Isn't that what it's for.
Who would want one of those young INexperienced bimbos anyway? Loved it!

Andrew and Martie: So glad I could bring a giggle to your day. Some things we just
can't change like growing old and the changes our bodies go through...so why not
laugh at them rather than cry.
----
Yes, Puf I would rather have the wisdom...and thank goodness for make-up.
-----
As for you hoot....don't ever grow up.
One thing I have learned from writing poetry...I can be as young as I want, as silly, as serious or as old...today I chose to be a child.
---------------
All of your comments has brought a smile
to my face...it somehow made me think
of the serinity prayer but I changed a couple of words...
"God grant me the ability to laugh at the things I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference....Amen.
