I am on a journey,
Across all space and time,
To discover the very essence of me,
I wonder what I shall find?

There are visions and memories,
There are echoes of painful emotions,
There are tears and laughter,
All softened by the sound of the oceans.

I'm trying to find the answers,
Asking the questions too,
Why am I really here,
What is it I'm meant to do?

It may be a long journey,
Where the boundaries of time are crossed,
Trying to discover the answers,
Don't wanna end up feeling lost.

Unravelling the mysteries of I,
As realities descend,
Retracing old worn trails of memories,
Finding faults I wish to mend.

Just can't help wondering,
Do others see what is special inside,
Do they know the depth of caring,
The insecurities I hide?

Mother, daughter, lover and friend,
And there's so much more to see,
Just hope someday people will understand,
All there is to me.

Isis - this topic is precious to my heart right now. I sincerely hope you are understood. When you find that understanding it's like a dull cloud being lifted from your soul. Loved the way you expressed this...

this piece moved me Isis......the wanting to understand ones purpose and the wanting to be understood is something I think most people can relate to......I really enjoyed this work

Thanks Severn and Pepper, it's hard enough to understand one's self let alone others. Life is like a road of discoveries..
Glad you both liked it and could relate.

I too can relate to both the poem and your reply. The beginning of knowledge always has to start with yourself. Work to discover the vastness of who you are. Only then can you even comprehend how vast others can be. Wonderfully done Isis!

Now...here is a challenge to you my friend. Have you ever written in prose? I challenge you to write a prose on what you have discovered about yourself and who you are. "The Many Layers of Isis." How is that for a title?

Thanks as always Denise, thanks Sally too, I like the 5th verse myself . And Marilyn, no I've never done Prose! That's seems like a toughy for me, but I like the title. Be kind in judgement I have no idea what'll happen OK?

Thanks Chris, you liked unravelling the mysteries of I, but do you ever fully understand your depth, your soul ? There's a poser for you....

Awesome...I am always trying to descover the depths of my own soul, so every word you speak I can relate to. Eloquent work.

Chris, You mean your taking up the poser/unintentional challenge I gave you?
If so, I'm eagerly awaiting it
