Mistress To Misery

How many has wanted,
a love that can not be?
Desire for the forbidden fruit,
upon that golden tree?

How many has yearned,
to share that hug and kiss?
Throwing caution to the wind,
and wanting only this?

How many has wanted, to let
emotions be their guide?
Knowing their love's unattainable,
then bowed their heads and cried?

To love someone that is not free,
makes for long and lonely nights.
With no one to hold you close,
when you put out the lights.

Though, what you feel, feels right.
The pain can't be denied,
from the longing,and the wishing,
to have them by your side.

Take control, of your life,
somethings are not meant to be.
It's so hard to mend your heart,
when the one you love's not free.

No one really knows,
what's in their destiny.
But, for now, let's face it,
You're a 'mistress to misery'.

I'm sure many, too many can relate to this. I'm sure misery is plentiful. Yet it's a mystery to me, with so many 'available' people around, looking for that special someone! Very well done!
