The magic of yes dear

She shrugs her shoulders at my poems
They seem to her mere epigram.
Goes back to read the news quite grim,
Much of which I don't give a damn.

It's true our attitudes diverge
And it's been that way from the start,
When I am free she has no urge,
When she is free it's a la carte.

But we do have relations flow
There is always a discussion.
She's constantly ready to go.
And I can't stand the rushin.

Seems to me she's non stop frantic
She's always in the high speed gear
While I am a slow romantic.
That controls her with my, " yes dear."

If you're into not withstanding.
Love is a many splendid thing

Sounds like my household! Very cute, Seymour! And opposites attract, they say! I guess it's so!

I agree, as long as you're happy!
So sey, what to do when you're both "high gear?"

'Yes dear' speaks volumes for mankind, I’ve used the phrase many times.

True...very true...
But, what happens when the opposites no longer have that attraction? hmmmmm.....I think I know.

Just the opposite at my house...but enjoyed the read, as always! [Well, maybe not "just the opposite...but close...]

Seymour.....the "yes dear" ground in my ears when I read the title. I had to read. Those words do nothing but scratch at tender scars on my soul. I have heard those words far too often in my life. They were used to appease or soothe but rather they inflicted injury. They were never followed with actions of love and affection but rather assults and and bleeding. I can not digest the theme of your poem completely because my reaction to the title was instinctive. For that I apologize.

Marilyn.

Cute poem... that I much enjoyed. For a different twist on the title, I'm tempted to ask if it is not really the tragic of yes dear! (Not a slam against the poem... but an observation like Marilyn's that those words can be sadly empty...)

To all of the above, your comments are all true. And since truth is so flexable, I find you all to be right. Depending on the individual circumstance of cource. Thank you all.

For being so diverse, you two surely exemplified "the tide that binds."

Love you, Isabel..
