Of Normandy

Once again aroused from slepe
By salty ayr and lyghte tha sepes
To fyl the cournors of dusky roome
Broughte a scente of lyf yn bloome
From lowly ant to lofty tree
The younge sonne shines so bryghtly
Upon the strondes of Normandy

I stepe cross oaken
Threshold, through broken
Spyderwebes of dew
Early waked from dremes of thou
Simply joy and purity
Gazing out across the sea
From the strondes of Normandy

I've dreamt of thee for many
A year, wondering whenne Erie's
Swete rose schall fyll the spayce
Within myne herte, once chaste
Thy love I twill see
An answer to prayer thou wilt be
Whenne thou whilst come to Normandy

Norman borne and Norman bred
A dreme of bardic yn my hede
The sea wynd blowes
The nicht-sonne glowes
Be me alone or wythe thee
Whether ton lande or sea
I'll lay my bones yn Normandy

This is just simply lovely..and I may be nuts (what, who me? lol) but it has a melancholy feel to it. Maybe because it reminds me of a play my younger brother once was the lead in..same 'feel' to it. Enjoyed this much, I did.

Thanks guys...when I wrote this, I was working in a goverment publication depository, and came across a fascimile of the original King James Bible. That helped out oodles, as well as going back to Chaucer for variant spellings.
