Sunburn

Cracking your skin, the sun fiercely blows at you,
Burning the ground, leaving black stains---
You have seen the dawn of a nuclear war,
and you have heard the far-echoed cries for peaceā€¦
A rebellious, pernicious generation stood their foot,
and because of them there's no sky,
there are blazing thunderbolts all around,
and the earth begins freezing up.
The mighty swerving roar of destruction
still echoes in your ears, -boom!-
oh, catastrophe!
You aren't alive, but lying on a shining ground,
the roads of future fringes of shining glass,
No grass was on earth, all extinct by mortals.
It is your soul pouring out those thoughts,
these dreadful nightmares which came alive
sending Death's word.
A river of magma flows besides you,
as the ground erupts and rumbles,
And the stars stop singing
Whilst the clouds dive down on earth,
and the birds all fall.
Gone are the cerulean skies,
gone are the shameful mortals,
And finally gone is planet Earth.

I enjoyed it; I read it playfully (god knows why?); are you a Douglas Adams fan?

No, I have no idea who D. Adams is. Literature is a new thing to me, as far as it comes when reading different books by several different authors.

I think this is my first sci. fiction horror poem - apocalypstic by DE's description. Strangely, I had a nightmare last night with UFOs chasing me with a comet overhead... an episode of the old video game "Space Invaders"... is this because of this? Now, isn't that an impossibility? lol

FYI Artur- Douglas Adams: Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy; Restaurant At The End Of THe Universe, Etc. He is an incredibly gifted author with the unusual talent of making what I call "realistic irony."

Chilling ... let us hope we never cut off our proverbial noses like this to spite our faces ...

Well written, Artur. I enjoyed.
