The Secret Garden Sometimes we walk a predetermined path in wind-swept night Head bowed to watch our darkened footsteps carefully When the eye will catch a glimpse of autumn moon's reflected light And be lifted upward toward a vast and glimmering sea A spectacle long forgotten in our mind We marvel at the new discovered beauty long concealed As though the night sky had been hidden from us purposely This secret garden of heavenly bodies is unexpectedly revealed Unable to withdraw our eyes from splendor that we see We linger in one spot some precious moments more And our heart is overcome with unforseen tranquility And our mind relieved of all the the hardship it has borne It saddens us to realize this grand and glorious field Was there to soothe and calm the restless spirit all along So distracted were we by our daily labor and discord We forgot to raise our vision upward toward the lighted throng How can a simple upward glance create such quiet peace within? How can a thousand distant stars warm our hearts with subtle glow? Will we again neglect the unremembered splendor in the sky Or customarily allow the little stars to touch our soul? I've never thought of the stars in quite that light. Thanks for the illumination! Glad to see you around! Passions is a blast. X ------------------ "We have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night" (Tombstone epitaph of two amateur astronomers) |

Elizabeth this poem is amazing cuz just earlier 2nite I took a stroll with my lil one and she requested that she not change from her dress-up clothes which by the way was a long white sequined dress and she adorned her head with this halo she has from halloween and as we walked around the neighborhood I glanced down at her and noticed her staring at the star-filled sky and so I asked her 'What are you thinking about' and she said 'Mama do you think the angels who sleep on those stars see me as an angel too'... Well Elizabeth, needless2say the moment was priceless and to read this exquisite poem is a treat4me2nite This shall be treasured in my library Sweetie... *~coco~* |

Liz I stare up at the sky almost every night as it fascinates me - this is a wonderful poem (only three comments) - would you consider re-posting this one so others can enjoy it? ~*~ Carpe' Diem ~*~ |
