Beyond a craggy cliff lightning flashes, it silhouettes a noble form, regal and sleek, amidst thunderous crashes, the Unicorn King braves the new born storm. Wind whipping and tossing his silvery mane, his ebony body stands like carven stone, rolling off is sheeting rain, glinting are diamond eyes white as polished bone. Unicorn King screams defiance to the skies. Onyx horn flashes with streaking gold, a sure sign of unicorn ire, memories of when their bodies were bought and sold ignite his passion's fire to protect his herd of mares from danger taking them unawares. From behind streaks stooping death, a griffon rampant falls upon a foal, vice-like talons tear from it final breath and carry it off whole, watching King with patience and mighty spring, impales the murderer's chest, falling he rolls leaving the griffon to the rest. His vengeful, savage herd tears asunder the half lion and half bird, foals fill with wonder bathing in griffon blood while mares trample the carcass into the mud Eyes glowing with an inner knowing from guarding his herd this night, Unicorn King that wondrous being vanishes from sight to reappear on cliff instilling fear in unicorn foes, so the legend goes. ©1999 DreamEvil ------------------ Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. Thank you! You met my challenge most nobly. Though this is excellent, I still think a unicorn would be gentler...but I guess if they are kin to wild stallions, your version is truer to form. |

Geez, Dream. I've never pictured unicorns in that way before. And here I thought they were gentle creatures! I love the flight of fancy! the stuff dreams (maybe nightmares?) are made of. |

Dream, I've always loved unicorns, and thankyou for opening my eyes that a male would be more like the stallion / unicorn you described. Loved it!!! ------------------ Through poetry my heart and soul truly sing... ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |
