LAST NIGHT YOU WERE MINE,
YOUR NEVER FADING SMILE,
YOUR JUST KISSED LIPS,
YOUR PERFECT FINGERTIPS.
JUST FOR ONE NIGHT.

LAST NIGHT I WAS YOURS,
MY HEART POUNDING,
MY EYES MEMORIZING,
MY PULSE QUICKENING,
JUST FOR ONE NIGHT.

LAST NIGHT WE WE'RE ONE,
WE SOARED LIKE THE STARS,
WE BATHED IN HAPPINESS,
WE DRANK OF EACH OTHER'S SOUL,
JUST FOR ONE NIGHT.

TONIGHT SHE'LL HAVE YOUR HEART,
SHE'LL BE YOUR MIRRORED LOVE,
SHE'LL WHISPER SWEETLY IN YOUR EAR,
THE DREAMS YOU ARE TO SHARE.
FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

TONIGHT I'LL PONDER RECKLESSLY,
CHIDE MYSELF FOR BEING NAIVE,
FOR WANTING TO BELIEVE-
HATING YOUR ABILITY TO LEAVE,
BUT I KNEW YOU WEREN'T FOR KEEPS,
BUT JUST FOR ONE NIGHT.

TONIGHT I'LL TRY NOT TO HATE HER,
FOR HAVING YOUR TRUE LOVE,
FOR BEING WHAT YOU'VE DREAMED OF,
FOR KEEPING YOUR ATTENTION,
FOR LONGER THAN JUST ONE NIGHT.

TONIGHT I'LL REMEMBER THE ONE BEFORE,
REMEMBER WHY I WAS THERE FOR YOU,
REMEMBER THAT PAINFULLY I KNEW,
IT COULD NEVER BE ME AND YOU,
YOU HAVE MY HEART AND MY PRIDE,
ALL BECAUSE OF JUST ONE NIGHT.

This is heartbreaking and so very well expressed. I enjoyed reading this.

So sad and heartbreaking. You know in my entire life I never had the courage for a one nighter!! Perhaps I missed out on something?

Its possible that one nighters are for the best...Otherwise they get sick of you, and go running after someone else..

But it was a lovely poem, and well done.
