Everyone has one
a teacher who touched their soul
very sad indeed
that they will never know

My teacher if she's listening
if she could read these words
I would tell her she was my favorite
and she would say I was hers

That's what teachers do
instill that little seed
that we, the student, are the important ones
and it's they who really need

(side note: I've heard it said that teachers and parents learn more from their children than they ever teach.. being a parent and thus a teacher.. I couldn't agree more)

when a teacher tells you..YOU have taught them something it's the most wonderful feeling in the world.. and you never forget it.. ever.! (my teacher wrote me note once, about a speech saying I reminded her of Norman Vincent Peale and I actually had to go look up the guy's name in the library. and when I did I was soo flattered I cryed. That little piece of yellow paper has been in my purse since 1978. It's still there, right this minute. That's how valuable those few words were and still are to me. so if you're a teacher of any kind, never underestimate the meaning of a few kind words.

The influence teachers have goes far beyond the classroom and lasts long after school days are over... Sometimes when I'm feeling really down or without direction, I pull out one of my old notebooks and read the words of those who believed in me and taught me to believe in myself. Well done!
