Sailors and the Sea Sailor, please tell me what, from Jonah to James Watt is common to all travel by sea? "The water and a wind, a ship to sail them in, the sailor, a harbor from all three." Sailor, please tell me more, what many have in store when vocations they choose from the sea? "Sweet lover for a friend, a passion without end, acquainted with salty misery." Sailor, please tell me why then, you go down to die in a grave no mortal ever knows? "The sea, it's true, only mistress of the lonely, whose bosom, they greedily chose." --H. Arlequin . . . .
