Gone

Rusted metal and broken mast,
Resting within the tidal run.
The ocean washing, rushing past,
Her death affected everyone.

She was called the Honey Bee
And I mourned her death and downfall.
Died upon an ugly sea.
Downed by an unexpected squall.

From my own hands she was born,
Watched her sail, wind and swell.
Sailed me through night and dawn and
Through many a wind from hell.

We sailed oceans' green and blue,
My lovely genie of the sea.
Places that we never knew,
My ship my love, the Honey Bee.

Nor did she ever disobey,
I simply loved her from the start.
And proudly did she move in spray,
A picture to a sailors heart.

I have but one more sail to set,
For me to slip into the sea.
And toast my very last sunset,
Aboard the ghost of Honey Bee.
