All that I have is a memory- To bring on my nightmares at night. All that I have are my teardrops, Which gleam in pale morning light. A deep aching wound in my spirit- The agony tears me apart... All that remains is the hurting- In the hollow which once housed my heart. I dreamed of a life with you present- I dreamed of a sweet interlude, Crushed on reality’s anvil- The shock to our feelings was rude. You were a girl who was jaded- Embittered by heartache and strife- I was a gunhandy drifter... Who rode on the dark side of life. All that we had was the present- Some brief stolen moments at best... We headed in different directions, My pathway is still heading West All that I have is a memory... Of the love which I saw in your eyes, The fires of our passions were kindled, Only ashes remained at sunrise. |

Beauitful work!! Maybe look on it as two stars briefly meeting in the night time skies, gone now... but beautiful.. ------------------ Cast your eyes on the ocean, Every man goes down to his death bearing in his hands only that which he has given away... ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

As I anticipated, another fine read. Liked the line "Crushed on reality's anvil" as well as others. |
