A fright'ning thought smote me today
While contemplating my birthday.
A lamentation this may be,
But, damn, I'm thirty. Look at me:
Protruding gut from too much beer,
I've only had sex once this year,
My fading sight and thinning hair,
My wife's most portly derriere,
I drive a Chrysler mini-van
(You think that makes me less a man?),
I pant when I walk up the stairs,
But what hurts most is no one cares!
You laugh at my words spoken true?
Heed my warning: This could be you.

Sort of been there, done that except I had a Plymouth station wagon. Nicely done, Jim.

ROFL...well it could be me but only if I change gender, lose a few years and add a few pounds, otherwise, yes, could be me..*g*

Thanks for the laughs..

This is sooo cute. Reminds me a lot of my thirtieth about a decade and a half ago. Now I just age and age and age...like cheese. So see? It gets better..LOL

A Chrysler mini-van is one thing, Ohme, but a Plymouth stationwagon ... geeze. And I am not over 30 yet, Isis. I AM 30. Don't go putting more nails in my coffin than are already there!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

hey I am only 21 I have to pretend I am looking forward to thirty *j/k*

I am sure it is not all that bad but no matter what you wrote a great poem, that made me think and I am sorry if this was not intended but it made me chuckle as well.

Thanks Alicat. But I suggest you enjoy your pre-tridecenial days while you can . Glad you enjoyed it, though. Too bad my serious poetry doesn't get this much attention though. All you Americans want is to be entertained !!! Thanks again.
