My Protector - My Brother

Some say blood is thicker than water
But of that I can deny
For of the same blood we are not
And without you I would cry

Both of us were chosen
At birth by "mom and dad"
Fate brought us together
Of adoption I am so glad

We have never brought the subject up
For we're brother and sister you see
The love that lies between us
Could never stronger be

I remember days of growing up
When you would hold my hand
And then the days of teenage years
When beside me you would stand

Sometimes it is so hard to think
That now we both are grown
Out of the house, with children
Lifes' tough out on your own

But with our parents help
We were raised to be strong
Our lives have gone in different paths
What remains though is the bond

I love you my dear brother
Though we rarely get to speak
Living far apart is hard
Almost never do we meet

In my mind you'll always be
The brother I look up to
Your words , your smile and kindness
Is exactly why I love you!
