Words were my true lover The soft and downy quilt I hid beneath its cover The sword was in its hilt The tongue is sharp and swift Though flat the sides of it One might think it is a gift To wield the mighty wit Double bladed bastard sword To swing through resting souls Why I hid from the Lord In the quilt of many holes Who would darn a sorry quilt? The damned that keep me here? My words in time will e’r wilt But the fire will always sear Intoiprutations pleez [This message has been edited by wayoutwalt (edited 10-30-1999).] |

Someone let you down, and all you have for comfort is the holey old quilt? Or whoever let you down is the quilt, and you don't know how to fix it? I loved the analgy;s in this Great job!! Is analgy the right word? I fear it is not ------------------ Cast your eyes on the ocean, Every man goes down to his death bearing in his hands only that which he has given away... ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

Wow, Walt, this one sure packed a punch. Wonderful, wonderful work. God bless ya. ------------------ Michael Anderson And after-drunkeness of soul Succeeds the glory of the bowl - An idle longing night and day To dream my very life away EAP |

Walt- my int is that you (regret?) having hidden behind your words, keeping the real you from view. And through that "deciet" you lost something valuable, (faith, love, friend...) Well done in any fashion! |

You used words to make a quilt to hide under but now the sword of your words has made holes and that makes hiding hard, especially from the Lord. And there's no one to darn the darn thing but you. This is a great poem and very provacative. |

Walt: I think it's time to get yourself a new quilt... HUGS ------------------ You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give. |

I may be way off base here , but I would interpret this as an expression of remorse for not having learned to reign in one's own tongue before the damage has already been done .Really liked the read , Way out ------------------ Sometimes nonsense isn't . |
