When you think of Nature's most haunting refrain, The lonely call of the Loon comes to mind, It's trills echo across the Northern Lakes, Nature's most haunting musician you shall find. He lands on the lake susupended on gentle ripples, His red eyes ever watchful, For small fish hiding under rocks, lily pads or reeds, He'll rest when he has a belly full. His Summer plumage is a sight to behold, He's adorned in all his finery, In his tuxedo of black and white, Such beauty, a joy to see. He lives his life in seclusion, Away from the world of mankind, A spirit of the evening, An echo that's left behind. Their call seems to say, "Where aaare youuu?' And I reply "I am still here, listening to you!" ------------------ How long after you are gone will ripples remain as evidence that you were cast into the pool? ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |
