Awaiting Dawn

As morning glories turn their head to greet the rising sun
their petals slowly open to kiss the rays of light.
Their smooth, velvet contours caress an anxious breeze
that calms the gusts of restless blowing wind.
Moments passing by will pause to stand at full attention
then flutter away, forever lost in some infinity.
Every fragile moment beguiles the pathway of the sun
till it has crossed the vastness of the sky.
Then losing its identity, it slips below horizons,
leaving morning glories to the loneliness of night.
Like these little lovely flowers, I sleep alert in expectation
awaiting dawns when I can turn to you.

WoW! One of the best things I've read all day! Like the imagery and just the way it reads. Really enjoyed the last two lines. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Severn and Scott. I took a long deep dive into my emotions and when I came up for air, this was what I was holding on to. Appreciate your comments.
