Dearest Friend

Tears that last forever may evaporate in time
and leave no trace upon a smile or frown.
But they still linger in the heart as wretched agony
recalling all the hurt inside from things that should not be.

Languish plays with feelings that emotions suffer from.
till there's no respite from the hurt inside.
And all the grieving years in moments, often kill the soul
if there is never found somewhere, a shoulder to cry on.

Dearest friend who never tries to judge or criticize,
you've often brought a lifeboat to my side
and offered me a place to ride out life's enraging storms
by giving me, so many times, your shoulder to cry on.

We can ask for nothing more than a friend who stands by us in good times and bad
