A mistake It is a sad change, That is a bad change. And there lies the rub, Of Beelzebub. From a cavalier state I tried to change my fate And what I did undo Has only turned a shrew. That and ennui, Turned its face to me. The soil of repost, Forgives not the host. There was no crime within, It was no crimson sin. The mirror held to view, Only exposed the true. But the past is the past And it is not the last. |

The last two lines sum it up well, Seymour. Indeed. "the past is the past". Good job. ------------------ Michael Anderson Is all that we see or seem but a dream within a dream? |

The past is the past--you can't change it and you can't live in it. Well said, Seymour. ------------------ |

I agree. The last two lines finish the poem perfectly. I enjoyed it very much. |
