"Your poetry kills me," She suddenly said (And I'll be damned If she didn't look dead!) "You're a heathen beast With a godless heart, As gloriously stupid As you are smart." (I smiled, by the way, At her frantic roar; For, you see, I've heard It all before...) "Why can't you write About hope and love? And acknowledge the glory Of heaven above?" "I am guilty," I said, "Of the charges you level For I see no difference 'Tween God and the Devil." "I write what I know Of the human condition, And all that I see is A war of attrition." We could argue forever And never agree-- So she writes what she hopes for, I write what I see ------------------ William Haskins AKA The Mad Monk http://www.ionstorm.com/public/haskins/inner_sanctum.htm [This message has been edited by Haskins (edited 07-02-99).] |

I liked this....it flowed very well. One things for sure....to truly appreciate the art, you must acknowledge the vast differences in style and formation. I believe most poets write what they feel or have strong feelings about. (Unless it's a challenge....and we've seen a couple of those around....hee hee) |
