This Family of Poets I lay no claim to thinking I know about this creative endeavor that's been camping out in my attic. All I know is it has insomnia, and it paces back, and forth wearing out my floor boards. When it does sleep it awakes early knocking on my door hoping to motivate me. I could not even give the definition of motivate when I first arise to greet the day. Since now my once tired eyes choose to be open, I direct them to focus upon the brilliant works of art present at this open poetry forum. This family of poets that abide here, are sewn together like a beautiful quilt. At times I feel as though I'm a lost stitch, for the poems here surpass by far anything that could escape my attic, yet still I post what I have written in hopes that one day I may even surprise myself. |

And you will certainly find yourself, if not in your dreams, then certainly in the comfort of your family quilt. |

Surprise yourself....no. Recognize yourself is more like it. You are not sew-sew. Your talent comes through and we see it. |

I like the pacing imagery on the floor boards.... I don't know about you, but my floor boards are worn through sometimes from the pacing.... back and forth, forth and back.... damn, what can I post now? I've plum run out of stuff. Guess I have to write something new, I say to myself. This is a cool website, huh? Somehow some of these poets names look familiar to me. But there's soooo many! Geez... how does one keep up? |

Eight months ago, I posted my first poem on what was then Miningco.com. I held my breath in anticipation. I got good responses and some poems got no responses. Then Ron responded to one of my poems and gave me his Passions in Poetry web address. I posted there, and recommended a few other do so as well. Now, all these months later, I sit back and wonder what I would do without the affirmation I find here! I truly believe my work life (those 8 hours that support my computer/writing habit) is better because I know I have friends and family here to read and be read by.... Your poem was lovely. I really liked the image of us as a quilt. There is a type of quilt called a Crazy Quilt..think that suits us? |
