A Tree With Hefty Branches

A tree with hefty branches
to catch us when we fall
to lift us, and inspire us
when we come to call.

Each foliage a different color
for they depict the years,
this tree has given us strength.

Hidden in the trunk
a treasure chest is present
to open up our minds
and give us...
new dimensions to conquer.

Springing forth
from deeply embedded roots
the saplings grow, and grow, and grow.
To watch them everyday
you see the stories there unfold
from a tree with hefty branches.

Geesh! This poem could have a lot of different meanings. At first, I thought you were going with a rhyming verse, then it turned out to be free verse which brought a different feeling to it. Seems this tree is a strong example to many.... am I right?

Thanks for your response doreen peri, The poem is about the people in life who inspire us, and guide us when we need them most.
