Tonight was so clear with stars in the sky I donned a blue shirt with a navy tie, And off I went to visit my dear friend for you see he was coming to the end. The doctors had no hope or drugs to heal His terminal illness but no pain did he feel. For twenty years we shared our lives As you can understand we had no wives. We lived and loved together you see He did everything just to please me. Cooking and cleaning was John's daily chore, I never could ask for him to do any more! People could sense that we were in love Like a beautiful rainbow up above. But now he will leave me and it will be sad For he was the only lover I ever had! You may think this is weird or call us gay, But he made me enjoy and appreciate each day. People do not understand this I know If you saw my face it was always aglow. The affection we shared was very different Being with each other we new what that meant. Devotion and respect we always gave Like saying goodbye with that fluttery wave. But now I will be with him until that time When the church bells ring out their chime. You may think this is wrong, but it it right This may be the last time we say goodnight... |

Touching, and beautiful. You make others take the second look and see that love and loss have no barriers of discrimination... as all of life should be. Bravo! |
