Friends are those who share an understanding, a mutual sense of care and respect and with each other are not too demanding. A friend is someone who understands your feelings, one to whom you can open up to and not care what you are revealing.

Friends are companions. They stand by each, supporting and not letting the other fall. With a true friend one is comfortable and quite willing to stand in defense against one and all. True friends, with each other are never lonely and in this world, they stand as something special, a one and only.

Friends are aware of each other's moods, they tread softly on old wounds. Neither suffers alone, all pain is shared and real. Joy is shared as is the hurt and they help each other to cope. They lend to each other a sense of security and absolute hope.

Taking and weighing all of this, I come to a conclusion, my conclusion is this: Taking into account all I have seen and what I know, I say to thee, "I would name you my friend. Will you be?"

I've often said I'd rather have a friend than a lover. Friendship can last forever. This was lovely. Count me in!

Thank you, Poet deVine, accolades from a poet such as yourself are more than faint praise. Doubly so, this is but my second effort to lighten my tone, just for a specific lady. I'm sure you understand.

I agree wholeheartedly. I especially like the part about not being too demanding. Nothings kills a friendship faster for me than a clinging demanding personality.
