Though tender May’s offerings shall consign A soul so enticed by sun’s sweet affair It is summer’s burnt eyes that you enshrine. You who find leis of love and do resign To winter’s midday sun should but declare June’s wisdom and with final word outshine. For with Spring solstice do your sun’s align And find them clear of winter and despair. It is summer’s burnt eyes that you enshrine. Dark December’s heart which you entwine With the passionate power of your stare No longer sees clearly to draws a line. In Spring do they lamp and search for the sign Of a newly born month on which to care. It is summer’s burnt eyes that you enshrine Expert in the direct and the sublime Length of seasons you no longer compare Though tender May’s offerings shall consign It is summer’s burnt eyes that you enshrine |

i really like this subject. you will have to forgive me that sometimes what is being said does not always hit me right away. i have a feeling that this is a poem in which a specific meaning will strike me at a later date...and i like these type best of all. |

I was reading back thru some of the 'older postings' and found this gem. Great example of a villanelle! |
