I walked into a forest deep For solitude and peace, Craving the shadow of the trees To make me feel at ease. I sat me down to rest my soul And spied a massive tree, It looked just like an old old man, Who sought my company. So I addressed this tree of old And asked: 'Who might you be?' "I am the one you're looking for But one you cannot see." "I am the one who led you here, To ease what's on your mind! I am the builder of this place, The architect of time!" "You are a seeker of the truth, In truth you shall revel, Yes, there is more to what you see, Much more than I could tell!" And what 'you' call the universe, Is really just one room! It's one of many I have built, To you, it's a cocoon!" "And what 'you ' call eternity Is just a flash of light! Ten score times five eternity's Lie on the other side!" "Once that is past, there is much more, My building is never done, I am the architect of time And time goes on and on." "Now go to sleep and rest your soul By this old tree of mine, When you awake, you dreamed you've met The architect of time!" ------------------ Wolfgang |

Wolfgang, as I read your poem, I too sat in that forest..smelled the deep forest smell, heard the sounds of nature. You've given me a moment of rest and solitude that soothed me. Thank you! (have you forsaken the sea?) |

wayoutwalt. Yup, that is the way I feel too, a tiny speck in the scope of it all but proud to be part of it. de Vine. No , I shall never forsake the Sea, it owns me. I am just "branching" out a bit! |

I loved this piece- immediately I was sucked back through time to the Redwoods of the Northern California coast...I love the natural quality of the poem. Very moving with a bit of the Rip Van Winkle thrown in. -C |

Beautifully wrought, Wolfgang. What we see of our reality isn't necessarily all there is... Ron |

Excellent job, Wolf. A truly good poem creates a scene the reader can experience. This one qualifies easily. |

The flow of your story has left me speechless, a state rare for me. I would love more in the same vein! ------------------ Patience is a virtue, but virtue has never been one of my redeeming qualities. |

I love the title. I can SEE that tree. I am but one of the blades of grass beneath it. Nice going, Wolf. -dp |
