This is a poem I posted in the old forum, but I've added a couple of stanzas since then, so here it is: Fermented barely and aged crushed grapes Mingle with soupy blood inside of our veins, Creating within us a raw liquid desire Seemingly impossible for us to restrain Stark black bursts forth after bulbs are broken By our hungry hands, that frantically explore And tear at each other's constricting garments, Revealing newfound terrain of glistening contours Our moist lips pucker and leave their token, Crisp violet blotches on smooth white skin Shaking fingers run through knotted hair, Further dizzying our heads from realizing our sin In the heat of the night, we twist and we turn, Amidst choruses of our own deafening cries Sweaty film on our skin provides a slick pleasure, And through encouraging moans, we remain energized Our bodies convulse as one, in pure primal rapture, Not setting value upon the act taking place, Simply taking pride in our primitive drive -- Oh forgive us, oh Lord, the whole human race! Then by the first light of dawn, we awake so unsure Of events taken place just hours before With drumming brains we greet the new day, But the one laying alongside is shamefully ignored With heads no longer spinning, we now come to see The danger in which we've placed both of our lives -- Not knowing each other, or where we've both been, We realize it's a gamble, just to survive Will death arrive in a brightly-wrapped package, And unfold its cruel gift with slow-staggering strife? Anxiety takes hold with the sudden realization That to be feared much like death is the chance of new life New life based on love is a beautiful thing, A miracle beyond words like the gift of the sun But life brought on by the bottle is an unraveling string, Frayed long before it has even begun Dear Lord, if I must choose between one or the other, Strike me down with an illness beyond repair So that my mistakes won't be paid by another, Who's fate has been tolled before given the chance to dare ------------------ [This message has been edited by Angela K. I'm very moved. You've painted a beautiful picture of a good natured person. |
