Dear Lord, I am afraid
Many deals I have made
The end of my hour is near
Will they all disappear
The devil within, the Devil without
We'll have much in common to talk about

My soul will have escaped
Long ago it was raped
Finally it will be free
It never belonged to me
Dear Lord, show mercy for my perilous fate
I know he is close and no longer will wait

In the night meant for rest
I know it is a test
His answers are lies
I will guard with my eyes
"Go to sleep my boy and all will be right"
I know if I do he'll take me tonight

As the winter wind blows
My eyes heavily close
I hear a quiet voice say
"We will meet in the Day"
Though for sure I know the night will be long
Dear Lord, as in the past You've made me strong

I'm certain it was You
And Your Word I hold true
If it is what You say
We will meet in the Day

Help me understand your poem better-I get some of the thought line but I'm not quiet there yet.

I'm glad this was resurrected as well, though I catch a more sinister motive in this than the devil.

The Lord works in mysterious ways and I think you expressed this very well. I've had a similar encounter. The response was in actions.
