Looking back on yesteryears
I know the pain
And feel the tears
Of lonely days
And empty arms
And sleepless nights
And life with no real meaning.

Memories of you never die
They come to me
And make me cry
For all that's lost
Forevermore
And all that's gained
That wasn't ever wanted.

If only for a little while
I'd like to love you
See you smile
And laugh with you
In morning's light
For all the dreams
More time might have fulfilled.

Yanno.....that makes me think of my first love.....I don't think anyone ever really forgets their first romance...whether it was in high school or later.....I had so many of these exact memories one time.............nicely done sweets...

Toerag: Thanks, sweetie... Your first love is probably still mourning having let you go. *G* (As are all the others since the first!) On the other hand... mine are probably grateful for their escape. *G*

That Toerag boy is quite a sight.
Someone turned out his pilot light!
The poem that you typed in above
Reminds him of his own first love.
You think his lights aren't set on dim
Not to know it was for him?

Well, Deer... this has always been a favorite of mine... and Toe is certainly my favorite! LOL. But unless my precognitive skills are remarkable, it wasn't written for him... I wrote it on a Florida beach about 25 years ago... I only WISH I'd known Toe that long. *G* (But I did enjoy your verse! *G*)

Excellent work ... this 25-year-old has aged very well.
