If I could choose
my life again
A way to live
a body to be
I'd become a creature
of the night
roaming free

In feline guise
I'd surely stalk
whiskers a-quiver
small velvet ears
alert and perked
the hunter vibrant
within my blood

I'd never care
for love and trust
the next broken heart
would not concern
and wars and famine
I'd not consider -
ignorance my sweet
companion

Such simple comforts:
Hearth fire and
warmest carpet
or perhaps the
bough of some
stately tree
swaying in a
summer's breeze

My only thoughts
so basic and believed
of light and
grace and free -
Caught in my moments
I'd never worry
or wonder with fear
Oh yes, a cat is
what I'd be
