Purgatorial Incarceration

I reached for you, before I knew you were there.
A link to you all can see, yet none can ever share.
Our love and our hearts have blossomed open wide.
A strange certain truth from which neither can hide.
I'm there for you, as you are for me...
Our love that we share, that will always be.
Through the passages of time, indeed a twisted trail.
We may stumble, we may falter, but we shall never fail.
For we share that, on which legends have been based.
So potent, so powerful, something so sweet to taste.
Romeo and Juliet, true love, two glad hearts.
Like Lancelot and Guinevere though, they too torn apart.
And as these lovers, are we too doomed to fail?
No my love, for we shall write our own fairy tale.
For together we stand, and are stronger than all.
With the true love in our hearts, we shall never fall.
My love to you with all I have to give and share.
I'll shower you with joy and laughter, all that you can bear.
My forever soul mate, love from me to thee.
Strong and true, guided by who we are and always will be.
I love you on this day, even more than ever before.
Yet tomorrow and after, I'll love you even more.
Words cannot say, and I can never truly show,
but for all of this, I hope someday you'll know,
that I love only you!

Found this a minute before I leave and what a find! A side of you I haven't seen - I hope this a true tribute, because the person must bring you great happiness! You are an awesome poet as well as prose writer, my friend.

A quick thank you but no, I wrote this for a friend at work who is getting married this weekend. He asked me to write something for him. So I asked him what he thought about when he thought of his bride to be. When he finished, (you know it was difficult for him-guys don't like to talk to other guys about stuff like that!) This popped into my head. He liked it so much, (though I don't know why...it's too mushy!) That he's going to read it during the ceremony!

I love this! At first, thinking you wrote it for your own lady, then when I saw it was written for someone else, I was more impressed. Simply beautiful! I hope you're going to the wedding so you can get the accolades you deserve! (BTW - I've written two poems that were read at a wedding and one at a reception!)

Beautiful Christopher...

Just wondering..if a 'friend' triggered such a classic...What would a poem from 'you' to 'your lady' be like??...WOW..!!

I must say, that if I loved someone this much, I would express it much as Balladeer did. He expresses his love, by not expressing it, for no mere words could ever do justice the the feelings inside!

And with recent events having been what they are, I take back that previous statement and direct anyone interested in the previous question to some of my more current poetry!

Another portentous work...heheheh.
This is so exquisite - it should go on one of the greeting cards, I reckon!
