eagerly peering through
strands of fence erected
around this fragile heart
quietly wondering about
the ground just beyond
this confine I call home
hesitantly reaching across
the span barring freedom
fingers reaching, arms aching
raven coloured clouds above
mist soaked soil below
I, humbly bent in supplication
ice tears falling in summer rain
no hand can wipe away
no heart can carry the cross
dimly seeing the fields beyond
head bowed, waiting for fate
to turn her hand my way
my tongue screaming your name
to the heavens, to the sky keeper
I long to loose these cobweb chains
and float away, like a dandelion sprite
carried on the singing winds
across the seas, across my dreams
to wake in another time and place
with someone other than
the subject of my malcontent
