I wonder if I'll ever see A verse that's not in rhyme, but free, Emitted from the pen I ply. Now every line that I indite Is locked in rhyme and meter tight. I'm just a rhyme and meter guy. I wish my thoughts I could express In partial or more casual dress Than is my current wont. They should come out in random lengths (Gemetry's not among my strengths). They should come out in spurts, but don't. Instead, upon the page they lie Like rungs upon a ladder high, Rhymed and metered to the sky. Please forebear to ask me why I wrote them thus. You know that I Am guilty and will not deny That I'm a rhyme and meter guy. |

and the world can use more good ones like you. This is well done. Never apologize for R&M. It is the mortar that poetic bricks rest on. |
