Thorn and Dove

I still stalk the challenge of love.
Each day a thorn. Each night a dove.
My thoughts they vacillate this fate,
They cannot live that altered state.

The thorns are dragons' that have lain.
I slay them, but they yet remain.
How lies the pause of my surcease?
Where lies the golden fleece of peace?

Granted my boon, to challenge grim,
And fill the chasm to the brim.
To walked on water and stay dry,
And fly in air where angels vie.

I sang to the moon, like a loon,
Tried rune on love, was a buffoon.
Stayed some dragon's but some remain,
Slept at night where the dove has lain.

But thorns still stab and take their toll,
Dragons' of love still skewer my soul,
The thorns have impaled the dove and
Blood leaks down on my press of love.

Some day love will come, newborn and
Enter as dove without the thorn.

Had to add that twist of hope to the end, didn't you? Good job!

Impailed on the thorn
Blood stains feathers white
The dove cries out in pain
Refusing to give up the fight

Her right wings damaged
She is broken and scared
She longs for the safety
That she once shared

But hope springs eternal
And with one final cry
She loosens herself
And heads for the sky

Battered and bleeding
She holds her head high
Sometimes a single feather
Is enough to fly

Wonderful work Seymore...as you can see I found it inspiring
