Pacing back and forth across the gravel drive looking down the road much to brave to cry balloons are swinging from the trees dancing in the wind a car goes by, his face lights up but slowly the smile fades Get on the bike get off the bike check the road again waiting, waiting, waiting then sit and wait again Come in for snacks come in for fun but he holds on to his post with stubborn hope and wishing today he'd be the host Disappointment at 9 years old not so easy to take next year it won't be like this I promise you just wait We play the games and open gifts and sing and blow out candles he smiles and laughs and eats the cake but inside it's hard to handle watching your child experience pain is something that words cannot describe especially when they look to you to answer the question "why"? ------------------ Kay-lynn **A dream is a wish your heart makes :) |

wow!. That's a meaning I hadn't thought of! (smile) Actually, I was speaking of no "guests" arriving. When I read your comment I didn't understand, so I re-read the piece again and thought. (mm,, yup it could say that too)..thanks for reminding me how many words can mean many things. (p.s. , so don't kick his Dad in the butt, (grin) he's the one who "made" the cake! ------------------ Kay-lynn **A dream is a wish your heart makes :) |

This just tore out my heart. You are right, one can't describe the feeling you get when your children are dissapointed, or in pain. Well done with this. ------------------ "Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of joy you must have somebody to divide it with." *Mark Twain* [This message has been edited by Satiate (edited 08-24-99).] |
