I lie beneath a tree. The leaves fall from sleepy vines, shadows dancing, disguising me. I hear you in another time. Your eyes are dark with passion. Your voice is a soft temptation away from logic's grip. You laugh, then, at my silly, faltering voice of wonder. We run, we play, we fly. Silence emerges next, masked as life. Through the branches I see you now, swallowing desire. It bubbles in your throat. You swallow harder, as it fights to break free. At last, it is safely sealed in you, away from who you are. The youu of then is silenced now. I am in the fields alone. I want to fly agian, to be a kite, not attached to the earth but connected to it. You pull me down. You tie me up, and put me away. You store me safely, where kites should be. I want to run again. I want to be with the wind and the wild horses. You close the stable doors, where all the horses are kept, safely. I lie beneath a tree. I call to you, "come run with me, come fly!" "it's late," you reply. ------------------ God is seen always in a child's eyes |

Let's give this a second go-round - It's really a lovely, dreamy poem... Nicely done, snacks.... |
