Holding a Ghost
You removed your soul

from my outstretched

hands while still

declaring your love

I cling on to the ghost

wishing to feel the vapor of

just one more drop of the

sincerity that fed my

metamorphosis from a

child of fear to a

woman of fire

You talk without a

tongue and I sit at the

foot of the pedestal where

I keep you and cry for the

real wings you pledged me

fingering the remnants of

the paper ones you gave

You don't see the stars fall from

my eyes and singe the

ground around me

You bless me with your

protection and deny me

yourself …as if I wouldn't

notice while you

removed your soul

from my outstretched hands

Caroline,
Sadness makes for grey
There is another way.
You write well.

thank you so much for your kind response. I've been writing for about 25 years but only decided to take it "public" in the last few months. I always appreciate the comments of other poets...it is poets who truly understand the lifeblood in writing!
