Alone he sat 'neath darkened shroud And, friendless, wondered why Why do so many fear my name And from me try to shy? No pain's inherent in my touch Indeed, I bring release Why have they dressed me in black robes And stripped my golden fleece? Why see they not that I am friend Not one soul have I harmed Throughout eternity I've served Why act they so alarmed? Our Lord to me this role's assigned How can I then be bad For I exist as part of him I'm but a servant lad. Fears man a boat or car or plane To traverse space on earth? I am no different my dear friends I carry to new birth. No qualities do I posess How can I then cause fear The darkness lies within your mind You've not learned to see clear. So dry your eyes and embrace me Trust in our Lord's design He sends me not to terrorize My role is most benign. ------------------ lenny |
