--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you remember me
or wonder where I am
in your memory
do you touch my hand
pass me on the street without
a second glance
walk right out of my life
and never look back

do you remember me
when I was just a child
rock me gently
perchance to dream awhile

you were there and i was there
and one day you were gone
won't you tell me daddy
did i do something wrong?

If you remember me
after all these years
would you hold me tight
and wipe away the tears

would you even know me
if i walked right in
would you turn to me and say
how long has it been

do you remember me....

Red - comments? Yeah - this was really really sad and well-written. Speaking from the other side of that poem, I felt the same sadness and regret and longing. You touched me with these words.

Thank you both. Sometimes it feels better just knowing someone else has gone through the same thing.. (smile)..

Thank you listening.

Unfortunately, many time the child does feel that it's his/her fault. That is the tragedy.

thank you .. and by the way. The ironic part of this whole story is, we went to his funeral (please don't laugh) but I recorded the song "The greatest man I never knew" so play during the service. I had to use the VFW tape recorder and unknowly, it's batteries were very low. So during the service, they started the tape, and this weird distorted voice started singing.. thhhheee greeeeaattesstt mannn... in a low manly moaning voice. My sisters and are just could not contain the intense laughter, I bit my lip so hard I thought blood was running down my lip..! Here I was trying to make some gradious statement.. and fell flat on my face. I had tears running down my face but only because nothing my father had done, even in death, ever turned out right.

Thanks for a great laugh DAd.! (if nothing else).(sigh)
