I never really thought about dying,
To say "never" would really be lying.
But could ya imagine standing in line,
To find out 'bout your final fate?
Standing in line, a very long time,
To meet St. Pete at the gate?

My only fear that with my bad luck,
I'd be waiting in line for St. Pete to meet ya,
And be standing there patiently and waiting,
Behind someone like Mother Teresea.

Then when her time came to finally speak,
And hearing the reply from St. Pete,
"Mother Teresea, your works so adored,
But really Teresea, ya could have done more!"

Toerag, This is great. What a thought if Mother Teresa could have done more. I think were all in for a heep of trouble. I hope you stick around, none of us here wants to see you leave.

Oh Toe, you do make me laugh! Here's hoping we're in line behind Jack the Ripper!

It's gonna be fun if it's you and LJA standing in that line side by side and St Pete won't know where to send either on of ya. Neither heaven nor hell is big enough to contain all the joy and michief you two cards get into. He will have to create a new place just for the two of you..and we'll be standing in line just for a peek to see the antics you two are preforming.
Don't get any ideas about checking out yet my friend...you gotta stay around and entertain us some mmore...
much love and best wishes to you

Ha Ha Ha~ a wry sense of humor you have. But to stand one pace back of Mother Teresa would be like a dream come true.

if you find yourself with Mother Teresa, you see
just look at St. Peter and say "she's with me"

Wonderful poem, Toe! But don't you be rushing to get into that line for the pearly gates... keep bringing heaven to us here on earth for a long LONG time! *G*

And after you stand in line, you will be taken before God to give an account of all your good deeds. If you are worthy, She will let you into heaven!

Well, I don't know - don't you think St Pete might get sick of standing round for all eternity? Surely even he has to have a coffee break sometimes - you could just sneak in then! Fabulous read.

Well, personally I would like to see you around a lot longer too! What a thought to be in line behind Mother Teresea. Though thank God we each have our own gifts. I believe yours is to make people smile!

With the changes in the forums....i misread ur title.....i thought it was Standing in Line at the POETRY gates!! hehe

But on a serious note.....ur poem brings to mind a sobering thought. One we should all reflect on....do we do enough?

well done!!
