One Against The World |

She stands alone, Against the wind, Looking out at the river-- They are akin. There's a kind of turbulence Just under the calm; There's wild in her eyes, Like refugees of Vietnam. Something unapproachable, Danger just beneath the surface; You can't be sure Exactly of her purpose. The innocence is thin, Like ice gilding the whitecaps; She embraces all of Danger's friends, And she sits on their laps. Still, there's something so sad And sorrowful about this girl; She stands so all alone, Just one against the world. ------------------ Shannon D. Montgomery ("Krystal") |
