Love

Her presence is a golden flood,
A golden light that hits a bloom.
Like moonlight on a flower bud
That weightlessly lights the room.

I am spellbound most the time
And I stand in constant awe,
Wherein lies a faulty crime,
For power corrupts the more.

She means me well and does her best,
But over do will crisp the crust
And though I feel myself twice blessed,
I have the two both love and lust.

Her every move a steer of keel
I the fluid, the pliant sea
I can not help the way I feel,
For love has made a slave of me.

Ill advised this awkward state,
To love so deep is madness.
A life so prone to adulate,
Can only make for sadness.

So pepper and salt I add.
But mind you it's just a tad.

At first I found it a little disconcerting that the cadence changed from stanza to stanza... then, I realized this was most likely intended.... another illustration of how you can never quite figure out love... as soon as you think you've got it, whoops, the situation and/or perception is changed. I very much enjoyed this read. Thanks for sharing it.
