greyness envelops the earth
as the night fog rolls in
prickly soft fingers of mist
tangling in the trees
hanging from the sky
like midnight ghosts
muting the stars
dulling even the moon's glow
settling heavy and quiet over the earth
like a mantle of sleep
an unearthly quiet covers the terrain
grey mist dimming the sounds of life
as nature rests, wrapped in a cloak of grey

There you go again, Izzy.....
Making me like that "free-verse" stuff....

Isabelle, that's my wifes name, but that's besides the point. You said what you wanted without straying and that is where a lot of poets miss out. Well done.

I've always liked fog. I guess it is because of the mysteries that it contains. An enjoyable read. Thanks for sharing.
