I gazed out open window and failed to see below, The beauty of a single rose that in the ground did grow, I sought a garden in the sky, with magic in its bloom, Roses of majestic hue, that did the god's allume, I walked amongst the roses there, and found was colorblind, For in the magic I had sought, was thorns that I did find, So I returned to emptiness, no magic in my life, I failed to see a beauteous rose, and so I lost my wife. Mike....absolutely beautiful. Why is it people can never see what they had until it is much too late? A sad situation incredibly told....thank you for sharing. ------------------ "Nobody has measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold" ~Zelda Fitzgerald |

Great work. It is too bad we take so many things for granted. |

I'm not an excellent critic, but good poem. I could regret your loss reading it. |

We are all blind at one time or another - we fail to see the beauty in a simple loving poem for all the shining, glittering poetry around us. I loved this one...a rose in the garden forum..... |

It's nice to see such a short poem with yet so much power and meaning in it....Fabulous work here although I'm near tears ...... ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..." Henrik Ibsen (1826-1906) Norwegian dramatist lyric poet |

I know this must have been hard for you. You did a great job. Wonderful imagery. ------------------ One touch of nature makes the whole world kin. -William Shakespeare |

It was a surprise ending-unfortunately a very sad surprise. Beautiful job, Mike. ------------------ *Elizabeth* "Dwelt a maid belov'd and cherish'd by high and low, But with autumn leaf she perish'd, long time ago..." |
