Night in and night out
I walk this paper route
With much to think about

Through the ice and the sleet
The moon's deadly heat
And every dog I meet

The darkness always blinds me
The policeman always finds me
When I'm late the boss reminds me

Safety is never inspected
If it rains I'm not protected
It's hard not being respected

One day it will break me
And God will come and take me
But 'till then please don't wake me
