There was a time
when smiles were free
laughter creating sunshine
wherever I might be

I looked for laughter tonight
or even just a smile
but I couldn't find one anywhere
So I gave up after a while

But then I wondered to myself
why happiness is rare
and came to this conclusion
that life isn't always fair

It seems that when we're up
and feeling all aglow
a reminder comes along
just to let you know

That round the corner
that smile may disappear
and once again, you like me
may instead see one small tear

So when things make you happy
enjoy them to the full
because I for one can tell you
just one small smile is very beautiful

Good advice for all....of course, falling tears can make rainbows, too.

RainbowGirl... watch out!!! Poetwheel wants to show you his etchings! lol

Queen - I agree with your sentiments 100%. "This too shall pass," is wise counsel for us all. I liked the way you led me into that sage advice, going from a personal event to a more general conclusion.

JTF: HUSG..

PoetWheel: The Den??? Show me the way..:-)

LJA: Queen still makes me smile but did I say that?..Really?...LOL...Only teasing you Sir!..

Suthern: Thank you Lady!..HUSG

Seymour: Well, if like Camelot you mean: A place or time of idealized beauty, peacefulness, and enlightenment...then yes, I guess a smile does that for me..:-))

Thanks all for your comments, it's appreciated..:-))

I have to look at rainbows
Standing on my head
Cause when I’m stood upon my feet
They look like frowns instead

But fortunately…….

No frowns upon my face are cast
When I read the words you write
Go and write another gem right now
And post it here tonight

It's those random acts of kindness that often mean the most and make the biggest difference. Your poem illustrates this point well. A big toothy grin to you and yours.
